Dennysville
(Dennees' vihl)

Dennysville was named for the Dennys River, which in turn was named for Nicholas Denys, French pioneer, historian, and lieutenant governor of Acadia, who lived in the area for 30 years prior to surrendering to the English in 1654.

In days past, the tidal Dennys River was legendary for its Atlantic salmon fishing.

Naturalist James Audobon once visited a friend, Dennysville resident Thomas Lincoln.
